Benefits of Cashew


Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is a form of tree fruit crops originating from Southeast Brazil. This plant was brought to India by Portuguese sailors 425 years ago, then spread to other tropical and subtropical regions such as Senegal, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.


Cashew spread across Indonesia with different names (in West Sumatra: guava moaned or guava monkey, dubbed gayu in Lampung, West Java area called the guava mede, in Central Java and East Java named guava monkey, guava jipang in Bali guava Dwipa, and in North Sulawesi are called yaki fruit.

Cashew has dozens of varieties, some of which are white, red, pink, yellow, and green.

Cashew trees are an export commodity that many benefits, ranging from the roots, stems, leaves and fruit. In addition, cashew (cashew nuts) can be fried for highly nutritious foods. Cashew fruit can be processed into some form of processed products such as cashew juice, grape nuts, candied dried, cashew butter, canned fruit, cashew nuts and jam. Cashew tree bark efficacious as a gargle or mouth ulcer drug. The roots of cashew efficacious as laxatives. Cashew leaves the young used as a salad, especially in West Java. The older leaves can be used to cure burns.
