Boiled Shrimp Festival

Boiled Shrimp Festival in Philippines managed to break the world record by serving 10,500 shrimps or about 350 pounds, 48 feet long on the table in the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Philippines.

Mabel Calva, Administrator SLSU said the festival was attended by officials from the Guinness World of Records which ultimately sets this festival broke the record for the biggest boiled shrimp.

Quoted from world records academy, Tuesday (15/1), more than 400 people eating shrimp, including Defensor Nenalyn, Commissioner of Higher Education Commission SLSU.

Efforts to achieve a world record is part of the activities of the First International Fresh Water Prawn Congress, which was also attended by representatives from Vietnam, Kenya and Norway.

Congress spearheaded by SLSU is specializing in the research and water fisheries, to highlight Southern Lyete as the "Shrimp Capital" of Eastern Visayas.
